Phil Harris

Phil Harris was born on 19th of December in the year 1956. He was the skipper and a part owner of the crab fishing boat named Comelia Marie which was also presented on the Discovery Channel as a reality programme. He died on 9th of February in the year 2010 on getting an attack when he was taking off crab at the island of  St. Paul in Alaska. Phil Harris started to fish when he was just seven. He joined crab fishing after he finishing schooling. He fished on a crab ship without salary until he became professional. Phil Harris was the youngest chief of the crab fishing ship on the Bering Sea when he was only 21 years old. He also captained the Comelia Marie for over 20 years till he died. An entrenched squad of the film for the programme, Deadliest Catch had been filming Phil Harris and his ship since 2005 till he passed away. In Season 1, Comelia Marie was presented as a fellow of the ship F/V Maverick and kept on looking for the ship Big Valley

which had sunk away. From the second season onwards, it was a permanent match of the programme. In the Season of 2008, Harris was over thrown by a storm. Though after profuse bleeding, his squad and sons motivated him to get medical treatment and requested the squad of the film to look after him. He could not fish for one year because of being attacked by pulmonary embolism. He restarted fishing in the first month of 2009. The book Deadliest Catch: Desperate Hours contained a few sea stories of Harris. When he died on Tuesday, 9th of February, 2010, his corpse was burnt and the ashes were sprinkled in the sea.
