Asia Cup 2010 has started with the match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Pakistan has just come back after several controversies and after redefining the playing eleven at international level. Pakistan has selected Shoaib Akhtar and Shoaib Malik and they are playing with green shirts in today’s match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Pakistan is playing with experienced players and couple of new comers as well. Sri Lanka is playing their full strength and having advantage over Pakistan due to home crowd and conditions.
Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. Rawalpindi Express was back in action and not only the crowd but Sri lankan team also felt the presence of one of the fastest bowlers in the world. He came back strongly and strike in his third over.
Sri Lanka scored 243 in their 50 over and Jayawardane played a noticeable inning with the score of 54. Methews also played a handy inning of 55 to reach the total of 243. 243 is a reasonable total to defend having a reasonably good bowling attack.
Pakistan started their inning with Salman Butt and Shahzaib in the old traditional passion. In first ten overs Pakistan scored with the run rate of only 2 runs per over and lost the wicket of Butt. Pakistan opening lineup collapsed as usual and Pakistan were 32-4. Then comes the captain, he started to play his natural game, couple of sixes and he is on his way to play a captain’s nock.
Shahid Afridi and Umar Akmal handled the middle part of the inning and established a good handy partnership of 70 odd runs. Umar got run out at 30. His brother came in and started to establish his inning but he got out in the same manner as his brother did.
On the other side Captain kept scoring from the other end and scored yet another century of his career. He also got hurt during a bouncer but he decided to go on but got out with a classic delivery of Murlitharan.
