Holiday world: President Died

Sunday evening proved to be heavy on Holiday World. It was filled with sorrow as the park lost its president. Will Koch passed away Sunday evening at his home at the age 48, leaving behind his wife Lori and three children. According to Koch’s family the reason of his death was complications of type 1 diabetes. The park would still be owned by Koch’s family.

Holiday World is said to be the world’s first theme park. Will Koch as the owner and president of Southern Indiana Park, played an energetic and active role and had a lot of contribution in expanding and improving the recreational facilities of the park which includes the introduction of Splashin’ Safari water park (1993) in Santa Claus Ind, Raven and the Legend Wooden Roller Coaster in 1995 and 2000 and the very popular Voyage Wooden Coaster in 2006 which was designed by Koch himself. The passion of Will Koch and the additions made by him successively increased the number of visitors to the park every year until the figure touched one million after 2006. Will Koch had been acting as passionate president of the park for 20 years.

Despite the death of Will Koch, Holiday World and Splashin’ Safari would remain open for the visitors today.

Will Koch was born in Santa Claus but his early schooling was from Heritage Hill High School in the Lincoln City. In 1984 he got the degree of electrical engineering from the University Of Notre Dame. Then in 1986 he completed his Masters in Computer Science from the University of Southern California.
