If we go through the history of Flag Day, it was year 1777 when Second Continental Congress had approved the flag of United States in result of Flag Resolution. It was declared in that resolution that flag of the country would consist on 13 infrequent strips having red and white color along with 13 stars that were to represent each colony of the country.
It was 1885 when a 38-star flag which was only of 10 inch was placed by a school teacher on his desk. This flag was put in a glass bottle by this 19-year-old teacher. Then the students were asked by him to write an essay in which significance of the flag should be expressed. An Act of Congress was signed by the president of the time Harry Truman in year 1949 in which he declared June 14 as a National Flag Day.
This day is celebrated across the country on 14th of June every year and it is its 233rd ceremony as the celebration of the day were started after Revolutionary War for the very first time. It can also be said that flag of the country is older than the United States for around 10 years.
