Beef Stroganoff

Beef stroganoff—ever heard of it? This article is going to be quite informative for those who have no idea what it is and a double treat for those, who have eaten it a couple of times and love cooking it at home.

I believe, of the many elements of culture, food is one which has brought nations close to each other. People belonging to different regions in the world enjoy sharing recipes and food decors with each other. Have enough knowledge about the food of other countries raises the status of an individual in the society. This is the reason why chefs have respect in the society. Coming back to beef stroganoff—it is a Russian recipe in which stripes of cooked beef are served with sauce made of sour cream. It is served as a main course in Brazil, Iran, Australia, Portugal, Europe, South Africa, North America and Lebanon with a little variation in the original recipe.

The recipe of beef stroganoff is not as complicated as its name. The ingredients required to prepare it includes one pound and a half of beef, one cup and a half of beef broth, a packet of pasta, one tablespoon of butter, two tablespoons of vegetable or olive oil, one large sized onion, one cup of sour cream, one fourth cup of all purpose flour, a cup of mushrooms and one tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce. Now after getting all the ingredients ready, what you need to do is chop the mushrooms and onions into pieces of an inch. Take a pan and put some oil in it. Now add the onion, mushrooms as well as beef pieces, the broth and Worcestershire sauce in it. Let the five ingredients simmer for about thirty minutes so that the meat becomes tender and brown. Now mix cream and flour and add it to the pan. Cook for five minutes on a low flame till the mixture looks thick. Now boil the pasta, drain it and spread it on the platter. Scoop the yummy beef stroganoff on top of it. And lo, here is the original Russian beef dish ready. Enjoy.
