Mediterranean Diet

Mediterranean diet is the healthiest form of diet which promises to increase the life span of an individual as well as serves as a shield against various diseases. This diet is being followed in many counties like a religion.

It is a common misconception that this diet is derived from Mediterranean cuisine. The reality is that it is combination of foods and ingredients from Spanish, Greek and Italian culture. For people, who are looking for weight loss diet, should adopt the Mediterranean diet. The diet requires consuming a lot of chicken and fish in steamed form with sauce and dressing of olive oil. Olive oil is the main ingredient of all recipes in this diet. Eating fruits and vegetables in raw form is a healthy option however, veggies in low cal sauce are also considered fine. Other fundamental foods like bread, eggs, legumes, butter, nuts, grains, pasta, rice etc are a part of Mediterranean diet but staying healthy requires that they should be made in virgin oil and less spices.

Research has found such a salubrious diet protects a person from Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson disease, heart problems, cancer, blood pressure because it offers a healthy lifestyle which increases immunity against such ailments. A recent study on one hundred and sixty five Alzheimer patients has shown that this diet has no impact on lowering the probability of Alzheimer and memory loss. This is because other factors are more pronounced in triggering Alzheimer and the effect of Mediterranean diet is naturally over shadowed.
