Cacophony was known for playing speed metal and the original classic heavy metal on guitars. The band was comprised of eight members including Kenny Stavropoulos, Atma Anur, Deen Castronovo on drums; Dan Byant and Peter Marrino on the vocals; Craig Swain and Jimmy O’Shea on playing bass and Jason Becker and Marty Friedman on heavy guitars.
The band released its first album named Speed Metal Symphony in the annum ‘87 with the help of a music company called Shrapnel Records. The album was based on technically melodious metal tracks. Being one of the pioneer albums of the metal genre, the album
was used by many new born guitarists as a tutor and many of them claim to have their basic learning from this first album of Cacophony. The album was widely sold in America and was popular among teenagers. The second album of the band was released in the annum ‘89, which was a flop unlike the previous album. For the band, annum ‘89 was the break up year. The members were seen arguing and exchanging harsh words during their concerts and tours. After the band split, Jason Becker joined David Lee Roth whereas Marty Friedman partnered with Megadeth in order to continue the career in heavy metal. Presently, both the metal guitarists are working on their solo album.
