Pontiac Notre Dame Prep

Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central emerged as the winner of Division  2 boys’ lacrosse title on Saturday June 12, 2010. The Rangers grabbed a 14-8 victory over Pontiac Notre Dame Prep at Seaholm to earn the Division 2 state title. It was a thrilling game between the two teams but Jack Turcotte proved the difference at the end as he scored six goals to help the Rangers win the title. It was not so long ago when the Rangers were beaten by East Grand Rapids with a score of 14-7 in the Division 2 lacrosse final but they show great determination and performed brilliantly to lift the title on Saturday.

Turcotte says the team played as a unit and we show great discipline in the game and that certainly proved the main factor behind our success. Rangers coach Tony Quinn says he feels great on this victory and we proved it that we are the best team in the state. Notre Dame Coach Ben Ingram said,

“We said before the game today, we had to stop them in transition and stop them in the crease. They killed us in transition and they killed us in the crease.”

Ingram added that things didn’t come today as we expected but he appreciates the boys to make it to the finals. Brandon Beauregard was the top scorer for Notre Dame with five goals while Matt Ervinck, Mike Frakes and Paul Nardone were also on the score board with one goal each.
