The A-Team’s collection just $26m whilst Karate Kid makes $56m

‘The A-Team’ and ‘The Karate Kid’ were the movies, which were well in news and all the cinegoers were sitting on the edge of their seats for their release. The trade pundits and everyone was expecting and sure of ‘The A-Team’ will make a huge mark and snatch the box office collections by storm.

But once the movies hit the screens all over, the expectations of all and sundry turned opposite when the Jackie Chen starrer ‘The Karate Kid’ burgled the box office collections on all screens beating ‘The A-Team’ out altogether.

‘The A-Team’ is a 2010 action movie based on a television series of the same name. The flick released on June 11th all over the U.S under the banner of 20th Century Fox. Joe Carnahan directs and Stephen J. Cannel, brothers Ridley and Tony Scott produce this enterprise.

The movie unzips in Mexico with Colonel John Hannibal Smith held captive by two corrupt Mexican officers working for the traitor General Tuco. But Hannibal succeeds in escaping after being left to be fed on by twp guard dogs and then
sets out rescuing his comrade-in-arms. What happens next is what had better to be seen on the celluloid.

Made with the budget of $110 million, the opening to the film was good but not of those standards being expected prior the release. It collected $26 million over the weekend whereas the big rival ‘The Karate Kid’ opened to packed houses all over generating the mammoth business at the ticketing window on the weekend collecting $56 million far ahead of the expectations. Let’s see the following days bring what business for the two?
